Our Story

What we believe

Our belief is that a house should last for generations. To ensure this, no corner is cut in the building and we use only quality assured materials and reputable trades people.

We take pride in the houses we built where the emphasis is on creating a highly efficient home. As every building site is unique, we design our houses around these unique characteristics to capture sunlight, protect privacy and optimise an overall flow.

Max Homes guarantees quality houses at cost effective rates. We do not have excessive overhead costs nor do we spend on advertising or lavish offices. What you pay goes directly to the building materials and the people who work on your project. That is how we are able to remain cost competitive while still providing quality houses.

About us

We started building houses in Churton Park, Wellington in 2001 and established Max Homes in Auckland in 2005. “Cost Effective; Price Attractive; Quality Impressive” is what the business strives for. We run the business with scientific precision. Thorough preparation means minimal waste; and efficient management leads to little down time in between trades people.

Derek Jiang, the director, holds an MBA degree from York University in Canada. After the MBA he joined Nestle Canada but starting his own business was always Derek’s dream. After visiting a family member in New Zealand, Derek quickly fell in love with the country and decided it was the perfect place to begin a business. Derek also holds a Masters Degree in Science from Canada, and a Bachelors Degree in Science from China.

In between projects, Derek and his family love to travel and explore new places. Creativity comes from exposure to diversity and traveling is the ultimate door to fresh inspiration for Derek and his family.
